Equal Housing Opportunity
Ela Mildner-Shapiro and Sibcy Cline, Inc. are pledged to the letter and spirit of U.S. policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity throughout the nation. We encourage and support an affirmative advertising and marketing program in which there are no barriers to obtaining housing because of race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin.
Protected Classes
Under the federal Fair Housing Act (42 U.S.C. §§ 3601-3619), it is illegal to discriminate in the sale, rental, financing, or advertising of housing based on: race, color, national origin, religion, sex (including gender identity and sexual orientation), familial status, and disability.
Under Ohio law (Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4112), additional protections include: ancestry and military status.
What This Means in Practice
As a real estate professional, I will: provide equal professional service to every prospective client, customer, or resident; refrain from making statements that indicate any preference, limitation, or discrimination based on protected class; never engage in steering, blockbusting, redlining, or other discriminatory practices; and always show every client the homes that match their stated criteria—regardless of any protected characteristic.
