A Township With Its Own History
Delhi Township traces back to 1789, when the village of South Bend was first settled along the Ohio River. When Hamilton County organized a year later, the area became part of South Bend Township, later divided in 1809 into Green and Miami townships.
Over the following century, Cincinnati annexed much of Delhi Township’s original riverfront, including the neighborhoods now known as Price Hill, Sayler Park, Sedamsville, and Riverside. What remains is the Delhi Township of today: unincorporated, river-facing, and distinct from the city communities that grew out of it.
Living in Delhi Township
The township runs along the Ohio River, and river-view lots are part of what draws buyers here. Housing stock ranges from mid-century ranches and colonials on wooded, often larger lots to newer construction in developed pockets — a mix that reflects decades of steady, incremental growth rather than a single building boom.
Delhi Township was once known for its greenhouse industry; at its peak before World War II, as many as 55 family-run greenhouses operated here, supplying a notable share of the carnations sold across the country. That legacy carries on through the township’s parks system, including Delhi Park, a community park that has grown into more than 50 acres of ball fields, an arboretum, walking trails, and picnic shelters.
Students in Delhi Township are served by the Oak Hills Local School District.
Buying in Delhi Township
Buyers here are often looking for something specific: a river-adjacent lot, a wooded setting, or simply more land than they’d find closer to downtown, without giving up a short commute. Ela walks buyers through what makes each Delhi Township street different, so an offer reflects the property, not just the listing photos.
