A Small City With Its Own History
North College Hill was incorporated as a village in 1916 and became a city in 1941. William Cary began buying land here in the early 1810s, and the community took shape from three early subdivisions — Meyerville, Clovernook, and Sunshine — platted between 1905 and 1915. The name comes from its position just north of the Cincinnati neighborhood of College Hill. That early-automobile-era growth pattern is still visible: modest lots and a scale built for an easy commute.
The Housing Landscape
Homes here were largely built in the early-to-mid 20th century — modest single-family houses on manageable lots, close together, rather than large custom builds. One historical exception is the Cary Cottage, an 1832 structure now on the Clovernook Center grounds and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Parks, Landmarks, and Everyday Life
Isaac Mayer Wise Park, renovated and rededicated in 2022, anchors part of the community’s green space. The Clovernook Center for the Blind and Visually Impaired operates on the historic Clovernook grounds. The LaBoiteaux-Cary cemetery dates to around 1806. Regional access improved with the 1997 completion of the Ronald Reagan Cross County Highway (State Route 126).
Buying and Selling in North College Hill
Buyers here are typically drawn to a close-in location — about ten miles from downtown — with housing smaller in scale than in some larger Hamilton County suburbs. Ela walks buyers through what a given block offers, from the home’s age to its proximity to Clovernook and Route 126.
Selling a smaller, older home takes a different strategy than marketing a large newer build. Ela’s 22 years of Cincinnati experience and MBA-level approach to pricing are built for exactly that.
