For Corporate Transferees

Relocating to Cincinnati with a European Employer

DHL, thyssenkrupp Bilstein, Festo, Munich Re, Givaudan, Schneider Electric, Ocado, Saica, Modula — if your company moved you here, this page maps your first months: where colleagues live, when to rent, and what Ela takes off your plate. In English or German.

One honest note: your company’s community group will welcome you warmly — social and cultural integration is their role, and they are good at it. Housing is not. That part is Ela’s job.

Rent first — 60 to 90 days

The standard transferee play, and Ela recommends it without a sales agenda: rent while you learn commutes, districts, and neighborhoods in real life. Assignment under three years? Renting throughout is usually the better calculation — she will tell you so.

Mind the school calendar

Cincinnati’s magnet enrollment (including the public German-immersion Fairview school, admission by lottery since 2015) runs on the school-year cycle. If language schooling matters, tell Ela your arrival date early so the housing search and the school timeline move together.

What Ela handles

Neighborhood shortlists matched to your office, rental search with an international file landlords accept, then the purchase when you are ready — inspection, title, escrow, all of it explained in plain English or native German.

Your employer, your shortlist

The communities clients typically shortlist near each campus — every link opens a full local guide. Your personal shortlist depends on family, schools, and taste; this is the starting map, not the answer.

DHL Express — CVG global hub

One of DHL’s three global superhubs worldwide: 117 daily flights, a fleet of 64+ aircraft, and roughly 4,500 employees — plus a $292 million maintenance facility (300 more jobs) targeted to begin operations in January 2026.

Munich Re / American Modern — Amelia

American Modern Insurance Group — part of Munich Re since 2008 — is headquartered in Amelia with roughly 750 employees. (Siemens adds ~800 regional employees on the German-employer side.)

Givaudan — Reading

The Swiss taste-and-fragrance leader employs about 1,150 people locally — Cincinnati is its regional Taste & Wellbeing base — and broke ground in 2025 on a new 24,000 m² (≈ 258,000 sq ft) liquids production facility in Reading: CHF 187 million (USD 215 million), over 300 further jobs planned.

Schneider Electric — Fairfield

The French energy-management and automation group is expanding its existing Fairfield facility and building a new 450,000 sq ft (≈ 41,800 m²) facility in Fairfield Township — 250 additional jobs, driven by data-center demand.

Ocado — Monroe

The UK grocery-technology group built Kroger’s first US customer fulfillment center in Monroe: 375,000 sq ft (≈ 34,800 m²), a $55 million facility opened in 2021.

Saica — Hamilton

The Spanish packaging group chose Hamilton for its first North American plant — $72 million, opened 2022.

Modula — Franklin

The Italian intralogistics maker runs its North American production hub in Franklin — 242,000 sq ft (≈ 22,500 m²), expanded again in 2025.

P&G, Kroger & international families

Procter & Gamble and Kroger bring international talent downtown — part of the 450+ foreign-owned firms in the region, with 70+ German-owned employers alone supporting 10,000+ jobs.

Also established in the region: Safran (France) and Prysmian Group (Italy), per REDI Cincinnati.
